2019 was a big year for The Oregon Timber Trail Alliance (OTTA). We maintained our commitment to stewardship activities, focusing on the areas of most dire need. Behind the scenes, we spent countless hours developing grant proposals and figuring out a fundraising strategy to ensure our organization’s long term viability.
To that end we ran an incredibly successful fundraiser giving away a complete Giant Trance and bikepacking packages raising over $25,000. This fall our grant writing efforts began to pay off. We were successful, with the help of our partners at Klamath Trails Alliance, in bringing in a $150,000 Recreational Trails Program grant to rehabilitate the severely burned areas of Winter Rim in the Fremont Tier. We’re partnering with Central Oregon Visitor’s Association to help uplift the Gateway Community of Sisters with a $22,000 grant. And we’re continuing our work in the Central Cascades with the Forever Fund’s Bunchgrass Rehabilitation effort and the Cowhorn Cutoff outside of Oakridge.
In order to manage our events, advocacy efforts, community engagement, new trail development, and administer these grants the OTTA needs your help.
Please donate—even $5 goes a long way.
Stay tuned in early 2020 as we release our event calendar and other ways to volunteer or get involved with our organization’s success!
In 2020 our primary goals are:
Facilitate 3 major rehabilitation events in the Watson Fire burned area.
Break ground on the Cowhorn Cutoff trail in Oakridge.
Implement a pilot Gateway Community Program in Sisters, Oregon.
Advocate for an expanded National Recreation Area in the Mount Hood National Forest, protecting and enhancing more of the Hood Tier.
Publish a Hood Tier Loop, providing access to the OTT for a broader cross section of our audience.
