Adventures are often glorified as wild missions to exotic places, but that doesn't always have to be the case. The Colorado River and its surrounding terrain is a natural wonder not far from Joey's house and the perfect place to escape on a solo, multi-day bike rafting trip.
I hope that this film is a healthy nudge for people to shake up their lives a little bit. Jed's radical choice to quit his job and ride his bike across the world is a perfect challenge to the rest of us to get out of the routine and make some scary decisions. If you're afraid of a decision ahead of you, you're probably on the right track. Choose it. ! Follow Jed's adventures @jedidiahjenkins My Instaspam @kennyjamez
This is our homage to all the badass, adventurous ladies we know. Crank the volume to 11, this soundtrack is a must. Film by Krystle Wright. Music by CAKE.
Many people look to the outdoors to find peace of mind. For Paul Stiffler, better known as Ponytail Paul, the Appalachian Trail and its thru-hikers have been the therapeutic force needed to turn his life around. Paul has taken on a role as "Trail Angel" to help thru-hikers on their 2,186-mile journey and help himself find a new sense of purpose in the process.
Self-shot and edited whilst cycling around the world, this short film charts my winter journey into the Canadian Arctic as I completed my bike ride up the American continent. Compelled by Jack London’s assertion, that ‘any man who is a man can travel alone’, I sought an adventure of perfect solitude. Yet, as I came to realise, the harsh truths of travelling in such a formidable environment were a long way from the romantic images I’d held of this land. The Frozen Road is an honest reflection on my solo trip; of the wonder, terror and frustration I experienced when riding through the unforgiving emptiness of one of the world's 'last great wildernesses'. - Notable awards for the film: 'Special Jury Mention' - Banff Mountain Film Festival 'Honourable Mention' - Kendal Mountain Film Festival 'Best Director' - Bilbao Mendi Film Festival 'Spirit of Adventure' - 5Point Film Festival 'Best Adventure Film' - New York WILD 'Shane McConkey Award' - Wasatch Mountain Film Festival 'People's Choice Award' - Banff World Tour (Italy) Featuring in the Banff World Tour 2018 - Music: AA Bondy - Mightiest of Guns Rasmus Brix - Josefine Tom Rosenthal - Go Solo - Thanks to Fatback Bikes for their equipment support. - If you've enjoyed this film please think about donating whatever you think it was worth/can afford to help cover some of the costs of making it and releasing it for FREE! Between 2014 and 2017 I pedalled my way across five continents, filming the entire journey as I went. I'm hoping to turn that footage into a longer film later this year and so any kind support will really help make that happen :) PLUS any donators will receive a download of The Frozen Road for free! What gets you up in the morning? There are the fundamentals: water, air, food. But from there it gets deeper. If you’re like us, it’s a need to thrive, grow, to become the person we dream of being. We wake up to close the gaps between the supposed to do’s and the want to do’s. #DreamsAreNeeds Credits: Duct Tape Then Beer music artist / Jon and Roy • song / Every Night
www.outdoorresearch.com www.ducttapethenbeer.com In summer 2011, Outdoor Research athlete Kyle Dempster took off on his bike across Kyrgyzstan with a couple mostly-accurate maps, a trailer full of climbing gear, and a vocabulary of 10 Kyrgyz words. He spent two months pedaling and pushing the bike more than 1200 km on roads of variable states of neglect, wading through wild rivers, dealing with corrupt military checkpoint staff, and soloing a handful of unclimbed alpine rock and mixed routes. He recorded the journey, his camera his only partner, friend, and sometimes the only receiving end of his conversations for days at a time. In 2013, Kyle’s self-shot footage of his journey in Kyrgyzstan made it to the desk of filmmakers Fitz Cahall and Austin Siadak, who were asked to look at the footage and see if there might be enough to chop together a 4-minute climbing film. They saw a lot more potential in it, and turned it into the 25-minute “The Road From Karakol,” which debuted at the 5Point Film Festival and took home the Best In Fest award. What do Clint Eastwood, Johhny Horizon, Burl Ives, Louis Gossett Jr., and Crystal Gale all have in common? At one point or another they've all helped get the word out about the importance of protecting YOUR public lands. Grab some popcorn, turn down the lights, and get ready to enjoy some blasts from the Public Service Announcement past.
