The Oregon Timber Trail Alliance (OTTA) had the opportunity to attend the Oregon Trails Coalition (OTC) Annual Meeting on Friday, November 3, 2023. The theme of this meeting was What’s Next for Signature Trails. The OTTA was invited to share what we’ve been up to this last year and where we could use more support from other participating organizations. We also got to hear updates from others in the cohort on what they have been up to and how we can strategize new systems of supporting each other’s efforts to build better trail experiences across the state. The sixteen participating Signature Trails distill the iconic beauty of Oregon into unforgettable, seamless experiences. OTC believes that investment in signature trails can elevate pride and prosperity for communities across the state, providing amazing experiences for Oregonians in their own backyards.
The annual meeting was part of the Oregon Outdoor Recreation Summit held November 2-4, 2023 in North Bend on the traditional lands of the Coquille Indian Tribe, the Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians, the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, and other indigenous bands. We connected with folks from all across Oregon’s outdoor recreation community and participated in sessions ranging from wildfire preparedness and coalition building to presentations on how to foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across all our stewardship efforts. We look forward to building on what we’ve learned as we line up our stewardship and community engagement efforts for 2024.
